Midwest Listees: Earlier this week one of our listees, Mike Wodkowski, started out from New York City on his way to Wisconsin so we could do an engine transplant here. As you may recall, Mike has had one problem after another with his 72 squareback which has been converted to Weber carbs, so I was going to give him a new engine and restore everything to FI, using my rusted out 72 as a donor. As of tuesday evening Mike has made it as far as NW Ohio, where he is having trouble on I-80 near Delta, OH. If there is anyone in that area who could help him, or just offer moral support, or whatever, please contact me. Mike seems to be well equipped with tools and has trouble shot most everything. Here are his symptoms: Major loss of power, which came on rather suddenly Throttle cable and linkage is in good shape Compression is good in all cylinders Engine idles normally Starter cranks the engine over normally Fuel pump pumps Left spark plugs look hotter than right Carbs both look okay inside, he's checking them out now If you live in NW Ohio or NE Indiana please contact me and I can give you his cell phone #. He's in good humor so far, let's help keep it that way. thanks for your help, - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
