AC engines have problems meeting the NOX standards because of their higher combustion temperatures. The Dasher was not a replacemnet for the T-3 as the Dasher chassis was already in production as an Audi Fox. The Dasher and the Fox shared a lot of the same parts, including the driveline. The Dasher was a great car to drive. The styling may not have been to some peoples tastes, but was a pretty good little car. I owned the first one that was delivered to the dealer I worked for, and drove it for almost 100k miles. Sold it to my family doctor for his daughter to take to college, and they put another 100k on it. At about 150K miles I rebuilt the engine, because someone else tuned it up for them, and screwed up the timing. Collapsed the ring lands with detonation. Bored it .040 over, and put pistons for a Dodge Omni in it taking it from 1500cc to 1700cc. Russ Wolfe russ_wolfe@MAHLEParr.com Mahle Parr Filter Systems 505 E.
