I've never had a problem with these, except when I tried to install extra gaskets, but I suppose you could have a bad part somewhere. Were these parts previously on different engines? If they all came on a single engine, I think you'll find that they'll all go back together just fine. BTW, when you put these parts together, Russ mentioned putting all the bolts/nuts on there loosely, then tightening carefully. You also need to think carefully about the order in which you tighten them as you can put things out of alignment if you're not careful. There was also an alignment jig that VW had that centered the hole in the front fan housing around the crank end. This kept the fan hub from rubbing on it. I made mine, but you DO need to keep this need in mind as you don't want the oil return thread to wear on that hole and draw alum chips into the engine. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
