While driving, does the car miss a little before finally dying, or does the engine just suddenly stop quietly? If you suspect the fuel pump, listen for the two relay clicks like Jim suggests. You could also hook up a pressure gage to the fuel rail to see if you have pressure at the injectors. I made a nice gage from parts that cost about $7 from the hardware store. Get a pressure gage that has a range of 60 psi.
