The notchbakc was a low seller compared to the Variant and TL. The Variant was bought for it's load space and the TL was probably bought as a cheaper Porsche alternative (these are pure speculations by myself), but the Notchback fell in between chairs as it was small for a Sedan, and those in the market for a Sedan often bought a similar prized, yet larger Opel or Ford instead.
