Well, after 6 weeks since I saw the car, I've been to Germany and brought my '70 1600L Notch home to England. We cruised the 400+ miles at about 50-55mph, and apart from the rear brakes being adjusted so tight they overheated and nearly caught fire(!), she made it okay. It took about 15 hours, including brake-cooling, fuel and food-stops. I now have all the little jobs you have on a 20,000 mile car which has been stored since 1985. She is seriously in need of a brake overhaul, and a damn good service, and the rest such as fixing the horn and clearing the bits of tree that have blocked the ventilation drain hoses. Otherwise, I'm deeply in love, and Wifey likes it as well, which has to be a good start! Still, as long as I can get it done in time for Peppercorn in two weeks, get it MoT'd and re-registered, then I'll continue to be as happy as a pig in stinky stuff! ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
