Herman, Back in October last year I asked Lee Hedges <Hedges@ixpres.com> who is the President of the Type 34 Registry and renowned Type 34 Guru whether Type 34s ever had the optional Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection (VW Option M-236) which was available for the other Type 3s from August 1967. His reply was: "For some reason, the Type 34s never received the fuel injection that the other Type 3 models had as an option in 1968-69. However, there could have been factory prototypes that were made to test the viability of the fuel ijection system." However, bearing in mind that the sort of person who bought a brand new Type 34 Karmann Ghia back in the late sixties would often have been quite an enthusiast as well as someone who had a little money to burn (the Type 34 was quite expensive), I can't see why some of these very particular buyers didn't specify Option M-236 especially in Switzerland where the Type 31 and Type 36 with fuel injection were actively promoted.
