I don't remember anything screwed to the rails. There should be some plastic
covers over the rails. They may be broken, and somone did that to help.
There should be some spring clips near the front of the inner rails to keep
the seat from sliding off forwards. If the seat works without them, I would
say go for it. Just make sure the seat cannot come off the back of the rails
while driving.
