Re: type3-d Digest V01 #56

<< I needed to replace the Vacuum Modulator on my 69 Fastback automatic. I
went to a "national" parts house (autozone) and the young guy just
looked dumb at me when I asked if anyone wanted a tough one.. more dumb
looks. So I walk him through it... the after that he says it's not
available I should try the dealer. I said yes it is available but you
may not list it.. more dumb looks... Ok Thanks. >>

Don't be so quick to judge the guy behind the counter. Not everyone knows
everything about our cars. Heck, I drove my '65 Notch daily for 5 years
(until its much needed current state of dismantle/restoration) and I still
couldn't tell you what a vacuum modulator looks like or does.
True story: I myself worked at an auto zone store for awhile, my second week
a guy comes in asking for a part for his chevy truck, something I'd never
heard of. He was pretty rude and pretty much laughed at me for not knowing
what he was talking about, or being able to find it on the computer. The best
part about it is that the chevy guy worked with a good VW friend of mine, and
went back in to work the next day and told my friend about the "idiot at auto
zone that drives the tan Karmann Ghia"
