Because of the overwhelming response of "get your car outta that guys shop" I have had it towed home and it is currently asleep in my garage. I started poking around in it a bit. Searching for all the wires I could find that have anything whatsoever to do with the FI. I did come across something interesting. The temp sensor looks, in my opinion, extremely old, the wires are cracking (looks like just the insulation, not the wire itself) and the connections look a bit dirty. I rummaged around in my box of parts and came out with one, used, but looking exactly like it and in better shape. I plugged that part in and tried the car, it cranked a few times, and then, reluctantly, fired up. Progress! (I had the guy replace the other pressure sensor, my old one, which does indeed have the seal broken in order to get to the screw) I am currently waiting a few hours to see if I can go back out there and start it cold immediately. If I can then...problem solved? I am planning on going through the whole thing and looking for similar problems. Bently is a bit too technical, but I am getting by using it and chilton's as a reference. Any other suggestions? Sorry bout the long winded post. ---------- Matt Small OC Vintage Vee's www.ocvv.org ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
