Thanks Guys Brian, Tom and Greg and all the rest who came to my aid. It appears that I have 3 options if I want to run the large 5 bolt patern. Clearance the caliper, clearance the adapter or make a spacer to go between the rotor and adapter. I have a few reservations about the first two in regards to weakening the caliper piston housing or grinding down the adapter plate that appears to be 1/4 - 5/16'" thick. From what I am seeing (Haven't put a set of micrometers on it yet) I need to remove about 1/8" of material from either of the above to get the proper clearance . I know some say that wheel adapters aren't safe but I have run Porsche 5 lug adapters on my Beetle's 4 lug rotors for about 4 years now with no problems. The Porsche adapters are about 3/4 to 1" thick and I have had no problems with wheel to fender clearance. So I am thinking of going to a machine shop and having a spacer ring made from 1/4 steel stock to space the wheel adapter out 1/4 ". I'll let you know how it works out and if anyone sees a flaw with this plan please let me know. I won't be getting to the machine shop for another week.
