Jim - Very good guess. OBD is On Board Diagnostic. It is supposed to be an industry standard, version I and II. OBD III is being developed and debated. The Industry would like it to be more like an aircraft blackbox.....recording the last 30 seconds or so of a vehicle data like speed and g forces and stuff and maybe even being able to communicate with other vehicles and roadside stations. Controversial because of the obvious "Big Brother" aspects.
