I am not sure if this relates or not but! Chev V8's have a harmonic balancer
on the crankshaft end and it has a rubber between the outer ring and center
section . These will not stand up to high performance use. They have some
solid aftermarket ones and one is called "fluid dampners" that have a liquid
in them?
Any one up to designing a new Hipo Type 3 fan 8^}

the fan will also be reducing torsional vibration within the crankshaft as
it rotates ! due to the rubber fitted to remove it personally is probably
not to good an idea however if the fan is fully balanced and the engine to
well mayby its ok.
