I don't know what other problems you might encounter, but take a look at the tube where the column enters the body from the steering box. There is a "stop plate" there on 68- 73 cars that helps the column collapse, so you should try to get that part also. There is also a plastic bellows inside the car that seals between the column and the body; get that, too.
