The only time I have ever been able to hear these while in the car with the engine running was when either the rubber supports were broken and the pump could rest directly on something metal what transmitted sound too well, or when the filter was clogged and the pump made extra noise because it was cavitating due to the input restriction. The latter can cause problems under load when the pump is unable to deliver enough gas for the engine. It's nice to diagnose these by driving with a fuel pressure gauge attached and run to where you can watch it while you drive. A system that measured just fine in the driveway can run short of pressure once you get it out on the road. Still, I don't think this sounds like YOUR problem, but I wonder why it is that your pump is loud. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
