The pros are obvious: Actually... not obvious.. although Im sure Vader will chime in. - Somewhat easier to maintain than FI, and easier to troubleshoot Other than cleaning the trigger contacts every 15K or so there is NO maintence with FI - Parts readily available FI parts are all readily avail... although you may need to go to people like me through the list. - Less to go wrong If the FI isnt butchered there is much more to go wrong with the carbs... although rebuilt stock ones are fairly reliable they need constant fiddling to handle the temperature changes. - Probably better mileage than I'm getting right now (about 22 MPG) Carbs will give less mileage, if compared 1 to 1 (in otherwords, a carbbed fasty will get better gas mileage than an FI square because the square is heavier) - Increased power Under ideal conditions the power will remain the same... but usually the carbs arent set up properly or they are aftermarket and the mixture curve is wrong and the power is less or much more erratic over the RPM range. - what else? Your surging at idle is most likely a pressure sensor that is full of oil or perhaps bad... but check the system voltage to make sure the regulator is working properly... stock FI is really simple, we can help you make it 100%.
