Not only that, but the part itself shrinks with the passage of time and the loss of its plastizers. I removed and installed my 68 dash at one point when the car was fairly new. It was easy. If I try that today I find that once removed, it is a real struggle to get them back in place because they are now maybe 2cm shorter from side to side! This is in spite of the fact that the OE dash is built over a steel core which limits how much it can move. I was surprised to find that aftermarket replacements were also short. I assume that this is because they made the mold from an original shrunken part. At least the replacements are stretchy and flexible enough that they can be put in place without tearing them. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
