=> I have a 64 notchback and I'am in need of a license => plate bracket for the rear of the car. The holes you have on the '64 are for the German-spec bracket, which is wider than US-spec and set along the center of the plate rather than the top. I've had to deal with this on my 343 and my old BMW. To get the plate to the right height you'll have to make or get an adapter. I had the German bracket for the 343, so I just made an adapter for that from flat sheet metal, punching 4 holes to match the bracket and the top of my plate. I bolted the bracket and adapter together to the car, and the plate to the adapter. The German bracket sticks out from the behind the plate a little, but I don't mind. To do this without the original bracket you'll need the same sort of flat adapter plus some wide, preferably rubber spacers about 3/8" thick between the adapter and the body to keep the plate from rattling against your finish.
