It will fit if you drill 4 mounting holes in the bell housing. Many of the type 3 bell housings have these holes already there, but plugged at the factory with aluminum plugs. You will have to drill a new dimple on the top of the gear selector shaft, or just reuse the shaft from your old beetle tranny. The gear ratios are also going to be slightly different.
