Just thought I would write and tell every one that I got the little 71 S.B runnin' just now. Here is what I found out. At first I had no fuel pressure. This was caused by the main relay behind the fuse block not having the fuel pump connected, so i connected it and had 30 psi.... thought I was home free. I then moved on to discover a very weak yellow spark, so I replaced the points and condensor had great spark but still no fire. Tested compression and had 125 pounds around. Hmmmmmm I thought, remember I got this car free. I remember someone saying it had caught fire, I did a little inspection to find that all seemed good. As I was looking in the back seat I found what looked like a positive battery cable, the one that goes from the battery to the voltage regulator, it has two leads. It was burnt and that explains the new generator and regulator. Well, one wire was not connected and I grabbed it as it went to ground and let out a huge spark. It was the live wire that feeds the injection system, I consulted the Bently's and found where it went and had a moment of glory as it fired up. But still it only ran on maybe 2 cyls. I had to disconnect the fuel pump connection on the main relay because the power lead made the fuel pump run all the time with it connected. I got the firing order all srtaightened out and finaly all 4 were firing!!!!!!! Thanks to all the other type 3 heads that gave me advice on my first F.I. V.W. project.
