Jim, >From 1968 Mexican Beetles had ball-joint front suspension and disc brakes as well as the swing axle rear. They have remained substantially the same since. However, in 1996 they replaced the carburettor with "Digifant" fuel injection which is in many ways probably simpler than a carburettor. Mexican Beetles are very nice simple and reliable vehicles now. Unfortunately, they only make them with left hand drive!!!!! Regards, Simon Glen Toowoomba, Australia.
