<x-charset iso-8859-1>symptom:engine missing and breaking down. Runs great for 20 minutes then has trouble moving off the line and up through the gears; sputters and coughes until it gets full throttle then it clears out...progressively worse, now wants to stall when first going into gear. anyway...70 fastback, automatic... compression Test results: all spark plugs were too loose on removal, #1-110 pounds, #2-130 pounds, #3-120 pounds, #4-130 pounds bought a tach/dwell meter but one of those cheap ones where you have to double the V8 readings to obtain V4 readings: Volts w/engine running (read off the 15 terminal of coil): 11.6 Dwell (read off the 1 terminal of coil) : 56 (new points, too high!) RPM: the meter was telling me I was at 500 at idle and that can't be right, I adjusted it up to what the meter said was 600 but felt and sounded more like 1000. new bosch super plugs installed - short test ride the miss nearly disappeared...but came back as an almost stall...wish I could take it up on the highway but don't have insurance yet. Still not confident enough to put my wife behind the wheel... I'm going to try to get the dwell down below 50 by adjusting the points, then perhaps recheck the timing.. next step will be figuring out how to work the fuel Injection guage & the volt/ohm meter I picked up, and go through the EFI... -Chris ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
