OK, I need a brainstorming session here of possibilities I can check when I get home from work. My engine has started running hot enough to trigger my Gene Berg temperature dipstick (225 degrees or better) and I can smell a burning plastic or oil smell inside my squareback. It started on the freeway one night, coming back from L.A. - about an hour's drive. Now it's happening more quickly, even on short drives. I pulled the oil-relief valve and it had a couple of scars on it that I sanded down until it was moving freely in the hole, but it still gets hot. HELP! It's too cold to ride my skateboard to work in the morning! What else should I check? Clogged oil cooler? It happened pretty suddenly, so I don't suspect timing or carbs, and I don't think the fan can get clogged like a type 1. Hmmm... any thoughts? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
