(kinda' learned to live with it, but > it did get less frequent) Hm, I bet it's like my '69 -- turned out that the little part that passes the cable motion from outside the tranny to inside the tranny was screwed up -- the outside lever, intended to be fixed solid to the pass-through shaft, can pivot for a bit. This results in the driver moving the shifter, which moves the cable, which causes nothing at all to happen in the tranny. (Makes it seem like your cable's always going out of adjustment, one way or the other.) Next time you have the pan off to change the fluid, take a look to see if the inner & outer levers can pivot independently on the pass-through shaft! I still need to lower my tranny and get this piece out so it can be welded. If anybody knows for sure the relative orientation that these two levers are supposed to be in (is it exactly parallel, or a little offset?), let me know! -Greg ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
