<x-charset iso-8859-1>In 1972 they changed the bumpers on the Type 1 Ghia to the Type 3 ones, but had to cut away the top rear corners on the fronts. That's why '72 and '73 Type 3s have the cut back front bumpers. If you see a Ghia with the straight edge ones fitted, you can see why they changed them - a slight knock on the end and it's into the bodywork of the Ghia. No problem putting 70/71 bumpers on a Type 3 though, unless you want concours perfection. Incidentally, I was told by a retired VW engineer that the Type 3 bumpers were rolled rather than pressed, as they were so massive. Dave.
