Yes, that's for the sunroof, which I assume you have. There are actually 4 of them, so you should be able to find the 2 rear ones, too, if you have taken off the rear fenders, too. I've never seen any of those, although I have a sunroof 69. Does the hose actually stick out of the body? I'm just guessing here, but I suspect the way to replace the hose would be to run a wire up thru the hose from the bottom and take the headliner loose around the sunroof. Then pull the old tube out from above and feed a new tube down from above, sliding it around the wire that you fed up and using that as a guide to get it back in place. An old speedometer cable would probably be perfect for the wire. I suspect that those hoses were meant to stick out thru the flange on the fender and thus prevent the water from draining back inside the body. I think the fenders on my 69 were removed and put back on carelessly and at least one of these is blocked. Not a good situation. I'm very interested in how this turns out for you. > I was wondering what kinds of things I (a novice) could do as prep > work that would save me money when I finally had to take it to the > body work man? It's easy for novices like us to put in a lot of time without really saving the body men anything. I try to stick to mechanical things like removing the door handles and trim, headlights, taillights, etc. Getting all the stuff out of the body man's way will be a big help and will also insure you of a better job, because they tend not to do a very good job of that if it's left to them. YMMV ;-) Talk to them and see what they say. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
