While it is possible that the bearing is shot, it is much more likely that the arm has come loose from the sway bar (upper torsion bar.) This is rather easy to fix, but if you don't do it soon several hard to get parts will get damaged beyond repair. Tightening this is well covered in the Bentley manual, but you may have to pull out the bar and drill a fresh dimple in the other side in order to get this to work. If the hole in the arm is worn so that it is no longer a snug fit on the bar then this may not work. The bearings are pretty rugged and will generally survive unless they are never greased. NOTE: There are FOUR (4!) grease fittings on our front ends. Lube all 4 every time you change your oil. PS, you may want to check the date setting on your computer. It looks like it is about a week behind. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
