I would love to get one of those late Type3 panel vans, too.  The only trouble is
that they have dated swing axles but this can be remedied.  Here in Australia we
only got Type3 panel vans in the 1965 model year.

Tropical climates can be VERY rusty.  Cars in Indonesia rust quite quickly as
they do in PapuaNew Guinea.  And, for those who have ever been to Hawaii, it is
quite a shock to see how quickly good cars deteriorate.
Desert climates are the best and even Mediterranean climates like California and
Israel because they have a low rainfall and only light rain in winter.
