We have one extra non-machined flywheel, just in case. This time I'm > gonna do everything myself, just to make sure. The case has no effect on the end play, that's a function of only the bearing, the crank, the flywheel and any gasket that you put in there. The BEST way to put a 12V 1600 engine in a 6V car is to machine off the 12V ring gear and let Berg install a 6V ring gear on it. That leaves all the critical stuff untouched. > I bought a safety cable that latches onto the hitch, just > in case. It's best to run the safety cable directly between the 2 vehicles. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA I don't know why I mentioned the case, except to illustrate the it was Mexican and not German. The 1971 bus is, of course, 12-V to begin with. My 1964 Type 34 has been converted to 12-V. I realize that it is best to attach the cable between two cars that are the tow-er and tow-ee. The cable just attaches to the hitch on my 1999 New Beetle.
