If you buy (20DM) an official birth certificate from VW it will tell which country the car was originally sold to. Your car was probably sold new in Germany, because that is the only country I know that has 1966-73 Notches in some numbers. In most other markets the Notch was only available as a special order. That was the case in Sweden and today there is probably only 5-10 1966-73 Notches in Sweden. I own one of them, a 1968 1600L Notch with carbs.
