Feel better eh? :) My offense wasn't at having people say "check the manual". That I understand and I do my best not to ask questions I can answer myself with a little research. I was mildly concerned with the "lack" comment which I now realize wasn't directed at me, the original poster. My comment about "thanks for recommending a book I can't get in a bookstore", was regarding the Elfrink book which Greg recommended, but mentioned was out of print NOT the Bentley which I have on order from Bentley themselves azza madda a fak. Two for sale. Search Amazon.com. Check out E(Screw-You-Over)Bay auctions. You know, a Haynes shop manual is pretty damn good as well and it covers pre-68 cars!! BOTH are good books to have. <rant> I don't think there should be any offense taken but such information is so OBVIOUSLY AVAILABLE in the shop manuals. It can become rather tiresome to keep answering the same questions as well -- heck, I've given up and let the others deal with it. And then there's the Search function. If it gives a lot of results think about dumping it in a word processing program and perform a search to further refine the results. The easy way out is to ask the list than buy a shop manual. Laziness in my opinion. If people plan on performing the work on their own cars then they need tools. One of the most important tools is a shop manual. Christ, I think I'll start a line of chromed Bentley and Haynes manuals since nobody thinks of anything as a tool unless it's been chromed and stamped with "Craftsman" or "Snap-On"!! And $40 or so is NOTHING for the amount of information it provides -- a screw driver is only good for screws, a torque wrench is only good for fasteners that need a certain tightness, a timing light is only good for timing an engine, but the shop manual shows you how to take things apart and put them back together, what the tightness and clearance should be within, if it's needed or not, how to repair it...get it? This list is good for clarification, tips, tricks, and ponderances but should NOT be considered a substitute for a shop manual. </rant> Toby "I need to exercise, this ranting tires me out!"
