I picked up a '65 Type 3 Ghia last Saturday. Flew to El Paso, TX, tuned it up and drove it home 450 miles to Phoenix, AZ. It needs a bunch of work but it made it home without any serious troubles. Pictures at: http://thesamba.com/vw/scrapbook/65t34/ Question: The oil light does not work. I verified the bulb is getting power and I swapped bulbs with the working generator light so I know the bulb is good. I grounded the oil light pole on the back of the warning light gauge and the bulb lit up. When I ground the wire at the oil pressure switch, it does not light up. The oil pressure switch is also a known good unit. The only thing I can come up with is that there is a break in the wire going from the dash to the engine compartment but I've never heard of that happening... I did verify that the wire from the oil light bulb goes directly into the wiring loom, heading to the back of the vehicle (as far as I know). None of the wiring in the engine compartment has been disturbed, as far as I can tell. Any advice?
