That's basically right, except that the second spring is installed 
loose so it does not come into play at first. 

BTW, I hope everyone understands that bending the mounting tabs 
for these springs changes the calibration of their advance curves 
and that the only way to get it back is to pay money to someone 
with a distributor machine. It's kind of like tinkering with the FI 
pressure sensor, except you have even less chance of ever getting 
it right again.

RUSS! It's right in our favorite manual, the Bentley, end of the 
engine chapter, the ignition section!
