Kevin, you should rinse the tank w/ what's called a metal conditioner first(check with auto paint supply shops-either DuPont or PPG makes it). It basically strips the light rust and dissolves the built-up varnish inside the tank. Let dry well and then move to the tank sealer. It HAS to be a made-only-for-gas tanks sealer! No name or undetermined types could cause problems in time.(read nightmare permanent fuel system gum!) I found THE stuff. It's made by "Moss",and they call it "fuel tank slushing compound".(part # 220-450) Basically you clean(above) and then tape up all pipe holes(remove sending unit) mix, and pour in tank(turn upside down/sideways to coat all) allow to drain out bottom(take off fitting at bottom of tank) and allow to dry(I gave mine a week) It's been over a decade since I've done this, and have had no more pinhole leaks, and still nice and clean inside tank!
