The roof is probably the single most difficult section of the car to get right when it comes to body work. Repairing the other car would be a major undertaking. If the Car 1 has a rocker cut off already, its rust may be more extensive than it seems. At least Car 2 is intact enough to assess the car as a whole. It's difficult to estimate the work involved in reassembling a car dismantled by somebody else. At least by going with an intact car you'll know better what your up against; you're the one turning the wrench both ways. In general, after close inspection and comparison, go with the car that has been monkeyed with the least. Chances are a car that has a jigsaw sunroof also hides plenty of other abuses that are difficult to right again. For instance, my Notch changed hands quite a few times before I got it, and at least one of the owners was clearly insane!! You've never seen overspray like this! Even the mangled fuseblock wiring is a putrid orangepeeled red! Today while cleaning the floor to prep for rustproofing, I spent most of my time cleaning up great globs of liquid nails construction adhesive that had been used to glue household pile carpet all over the place. Arrgh!! I guess every car will have its own unforeseen challenges! (But it's worth it!)
