Per, All 2.1 litre Transporters/Caravelles sold here in Australia had Digifant injection and there is a company in Sydney ( http:/www.hellbug.com.au ) which specialises in making these "Wasserboxer" engines into air-cooled motors. In doing so, they usually discard the Digifant injection system and add carburettors. However, bearing in mind that these Wasserboxer motors are basically an adaptation of the original Type1/Type2/Type3 air-cooled motor, you might have a look at the following site in order to get some ideas about the conversion that you propose. The site contains more than a dozen photos of the modifications which take place in order to make the "Wasserboxer" into an "Oxyboxer". http:/www.clubvw.org.au/oxyboxer.htm Alternatively, if you can have a look at a current or recent (since 1997) model Mexican air-cooled Beetle, it has Digifant injection as standard on a 1600 motor. I don't know whether there are many Mexican Beetles in Norway but they have been imported into Britain for the last half-dozen years. I am not experienced in this but I would imagine that, which ever way you went to fit the Digifant system to your Variant, you would have to operate the car without the engine access cover because of clearance problems. (The stock Type 3 motor is VERY compact.) Regards, Simon Glen Toowoomba, Australia.
