Where is it leaking from? If it is leaking out of the bell housing by the
torque converter, and is ATF (red), then it is probably the torque converter
seal. If it is leaking between the differential and the transmission
sections, there is a big O'ring, and a gasket in there. It could be that it
is leaking from the govenor housing, and this is an easy fix with just an
O'ring. If it is leaking around the pan, this could be a pan gasket or a
warped pan. Warped pans are very common, as it is a cork gasket, an need to
be tightened with an inch pound torque wrench. Also, if the pan is over
tightened, the pan gets distorted around the bolt holes, and need to be
straightened.
Every leak except the pan and the govenor seal, you need to pull the engine
and trans out to repair. The govenor seal, and the pan can be done with the
trans in the car.
