When I converted our T3 to carbs, I plugged the return line, mounted another electric fuel pump in the stock location, kept the wiring and relay in place, then used the little "Y" piece that was there as a splitter, and ran fuel down both lines through the pan, one for each carb. Seemed the cleanest/easiest way to go about things, especially since I already had the electric pump sitting around. Interestingly, the blockoff plate I used on the engine is cast aluminum with the VW emblem designed into it ... possibly a factory part? I don't even remember where I got it...
