Microsoft is also guilty of this. The default settings for Outlook is RTF and Outlook Express is HTML. In Express goto "tools", "options", and click the "send" tab. Check the "plain text" box under the email options. You can then click the "plain text settings" button, and check the "mime" formatt box, and make sure the "encoding" is set to "none".
