I had to trouble shoot that one at a VW meeting in front of my local
specialist VW garage owner/mechanic. He's never made a secret of the fact
he doesn't like FI (not so common here in the UK, so you can't really blame
him for not being up to speed on it).
I'd been dusting the engine to make it look better in the concours line-up,
and after misfiring a bit it just stopped and refused to start again. So
after calling out "Is there a VW mechanic around?" and getting a grin from
him, I thought "what have I done since it was working fine", and pulled some
of the wires that were more out in the open. The CHT sensor connector fell
apart. A quick push together, and vroom again!
Nice feeling, and a good lesson learned.
