The best case savers I have found are the genuine VW case savers. They are
the ones that are a 14x2mm thread, with the 4 little pins that drive down
along side after they are screwed in. They were made by an american company,
but I don't know who they were. Maybe someone else on the list knows.

One thing to watch for if you are doing it yourself, is that you drill the
hole perfectly perpendicular to the case. Otherwise, you head studs will be
crooked when you are done, and will always have a side thrust on them when
tightened.
If you need the tools for installing the VW case savers, I have one that I
would loan out with a deposit and you pay shipping.
