Do you still have the mechanical fuel fump.  Sometimes the push rod sticks
in the plastic mounting sleeve; more common when the engine gets on the hot
side.  Next time if you can, lift off the pump and see if the push rod is up
off the cam - try pushing it down.  If it moves, it's sticking.  You may
need a new plastic sleeve if so; they can sometimes be a bit difficult to
remove.
