My opinion is NO.  A properly maintained Kettering system with good quality
ventilated points (like Standard GB 4173XP) will go 15K without attention
and give a very good spark find for out application.

The biggest complaint I have with the electronic systems is quality control.
For $60 most only last 2 or 3 years and yes you can throw in your old points
again but with the back of the square filled with crap...
