I think the "E" was more an option than a model. The script is part of option M3 (single carb N engine in an otherwise 1500S
car) in the 64-65 model years. Parts list seems to say that the E script only appeared on Variants, but the M3 option could
be ordered on all type 3s (including Ghias!). I think this option was intended for markets where high octane fuel wasn't
readily available. The one I actually saw in person (Variant E) had been originally purchased in Singapore.
