VW themselves re-painted panels with paint faults in the factory.  One of my
'71s marina blue doors had originally been elm green.  The blue paint was an
exact match in all lights and conditions of polish or not, and I had no
reason to suspect it was anything other than the same as the rest of the car
until treating some rust.  I suppose once a door is prepared for
re-spraying, it doesn't really matter if it ends up blue or green!
