RE: [T3] mystery VDO tach wiring...



For Bimmers, the first number designates the chassis and the last two
numbers indicate the engine capacity in liters and thus telling whether if
it's a 4-, 6-, or 8-cylinder engine (ya gotta know a little bit about engine
capacities to know exactly which is which).  Thus, a 535 is a 5-series
(chassis) with a 3.5-liter engine and thus 6 cylinders.  I like the
system...logical and explanitory, all in a single name :)  Kinda like the
first three digits of our VINs tell the type, the body style and year of
manufacture -- easy!
