If they can be found in better condition, it makes sense to buy them as
opposed to rechroming. Rechroming is only a temporary fix, they file it
down (sometimes sandblasting sometimes not), and get all the rust they can
from the pits and the insides. Then they seal it to the best of their
ability, and put the top coat on. A friend of a friend who does rechroming
told me that their is a 90% chance the rust will return because it is so
hard to get it all out in the process. He told me that if you find ones in
good shape, they can be topcoated only to bring the shine back. He said
this was my best bet. It could just be in my case though.
