I would start by just seeing what works and what doesn't and then 
got after the problems as they appear. Start with the engine and 
the brakes; the AT is likely to be fine, although I WOULD check 
and change both the ATF and the final drive gear oil (USE GL-5!)

Pull out the gas gauge sender from the top of the tank and look 
down there with a flashlight. That will give you an idea of what you 
might expect to find in the lines. If that's reasonably clean see if 
the pump runs (for about 1 second) when you turn the key ON and
then try to start the engine. 

You will have plenty of problems that get in your way. Don't start 
out by manufacturing extra ones or you're even more likely to 
abandon this project mid-way. Give yourself the best possible 
chance to resurrect this car.
