	O.k., here are some approaches... the total of all combinations is
quite large...  what I describe here is not necessarily the *ideal*
combination, but it should serve.

	Let's see, you've got the head stud problem, right?  You don't
really need to move the engine far away from the car, but rather get some
access, I think.

	First, leave the dang car on the ground.

	You can place a scissor jack under the transmission.

	You can build a "log cabin" of 2x4s on the ground under the
engine.  Virtually support the engine on the "cabin" while it's still in
the car.

	Unbolt the engine & slide it back, clear of the tranny.

	Remove 2x4 layers one board at a time 'til the engine is as low as
you want.

	For jobs like clutch replacement, there's no need to drag the
engine down the street -- you can just do it as it sits there on the
ground.  For tending to a head stud, you similarly might as well just
lower it in position and reach into the engine compartment area to do your
work.  When you're done, you can rebuild your 2x4 cabin or jack it back
up.

	Again, there are many variations.  You can see bricks and tireless
rims used for engine & tranny support here...
