RE: [T3] Paint Removal

Good god.. I can only imagine how many OSHA and Environmental laws must prevent anything like this from being offered here in California... But I'll certainly look around. I wonder if they'll dip a whole chassis? *grin*

On my car i've had all the panels acid dipped - sounds gruesome, but by the
time you work out how long you would have spent sanding etc, and how much
you miss - the dipping was the best solution

important to find somebody that strips using a phoshate base solution, not
hydrochloric or sulphuric

the phospahte - or phosphoruos? can't remeber which - is self neutralising,
but should be put through a alkanline bath anyway

the others do not self neutralise and subsequently end up eating through the
seams of the panels and if left in the bath for too long you can get
hydrogen imbrittlement of the steel leading to stress cracks - not nice

only problem is that you have to completely strip doors and panels of
everything

do not use sandblasting - it completely buggers the metal - ok for floor
pans etc - but not the body panels - you can't do anything with them - the
effect is like shot peening conrods - to relieve all the stress - becomes
bloody hard

if you need any more help - drop me a line - friends and i have used it on
numerous cars and motorbikes

this is all in New Zealand by the way - but the US must have an equivalent??

cheers
